Hello, Good People of the Internet!
I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on the pricing of The Forty Servants decks lately, and I’ve come to a decision: I'm considerably lowering the prices of the decks. Let me explain why.
When I first set the price, I aimed for something that allowed me to do those big, exciting 25% or 33% off sales while still making a profit. However, I think the standard pricing outside these sales may have been out of many people's budgets, which then put them off the whole idea entirely.
Then, last year, I had to bump up the prices due to higher manufacturing costs by GameCrafter, and that didn’t help matters either.
The truth is, deck sales have slowed down over the last couple of years—a lot. It’s gotten to the point where weeks can go by without a single sale, and even when I run the “big sales,” they just don’t generate the interest like they used to. The Forty Servants decks used to make up a large part of my income. It wasn’t like I was raking in piles of cash by any means, but between the decks and my Patreon support, I was able to keep everything running. Now, that's no longer the case.
But here’s the thing: I know from social media that there’s still a strong interest in The Forty Servants. People are talking about it, using it, and engaging with the content—but the sales just aren’t happening.
So, I thought: wouldn’t it be better to lower the standard prices and make a smaller profit on actual sales rather than set the price for the “big sales events” that no longer seem to work anyway.
So, that’s what I’m doing. I’m significantly lowering the prices across the board to make The Forty Servants decks more affordable for everyone. From now on, I’ll only be making around $10 per deck sale (after manufacturing costs, and Gamecrafter's fees and percentage of profits), which doesn’t leave much room for massive discounts or Big Sale Events any more. My hope is that this change makes the decks more accessible to everyone who wants them, no matter what time of the year it is.
Here are the new prices going forward, and are probably the lowest the decks have ever been, even in sales:
The Forty Servants Decks:
Standard Deck – was $44.99, now $29.99
Neophyte Deck – was $44.99, now $29.99
Travel/Tin Box Deck – was $44.99, now $29.99
Safe for Work Deck – was $44.99, now $29.99
Forty Servants Dice – was $59.99, now $49.99
Deluxe Deck – was $69.99, now $49.99
Standard Deck – was $39.99, now $34.99
Deluxe Deck – was $49.99, now $39.99
My hope is that these new, more affordable prices will allow more people to enjoy The Forty Servants and, in turn, help support me in continuing to work on new material for the Forty Servants and my other creative projects. I appreciate every single one of you who has supported me on this journey, and I hope these changes will make it easier for more people to join in.
Thanks for all your support—until next time!
